At the end of 2008, the BSD had roughly 8500 bibliographical references, as follows:
- + 2000 titles, belonging to the BSD,
- + 1400 titles that do not belong to the BSD and which are listed as references,
- + 4000 articles and documents and 40 specialist periodicals.
